- This wiki is very much under construction. The original wiki was set to be shut down and the wiki was largely mirrored to a Fandom-based version, though most of the reference images had not yet been copied over. This migration was put on hold when it appeared the original wiki could in fact be retained, however the old wiki was lost in its entirety when the server was among the many taken down by a massive series of cyberattacks on data centers during early February, 2023. It is now being rebuilt with the launch of Hel. Sorry if it's a little messy right now!

Gailen discovers an affinity for wood and herbs.

Gailen first appears as one of the students arriving to Orthorbbae during Ariel's first year at the school. He arrives in the company of his mother and his pet Tik'tikki. Ini'riia warmly greets her old friend, Kel'noz, entrusting him to provide Gailen with a fair eduction, to which the cheerfully agrees. After the rest of the children arrive, Gailen enters Davya tower with the rest of the class and listens as Kel'noz instructs the class on the school's workings. After learning to activate their keystones, the class begins to learn how to ride their floaters. Gailen briefly loses control of his floater, causing it to fly off without him. His later agitated when Ariel mentions she is hungry enough to eat a Tiktikki, hiding his pet as she does so.

The next day, the students begin their lessons with a class on basic mana arts, under the instruction of Master Soleam'ji. He laughs with the other students as Mir'kiin is disciplined for his crass behavior. Afterwards, the students are tested for their potential elemental affinities. Gailen is quickly discovered to have the relatively rare affinity for the element of wood and herbs. He expresses much more interest in the history class taught later that day by Master Traylyn. Later, he spars with Yafein in the combat class taught by Master Sandaur, unwittingly forcing Ariel to accept a challenge from Mir'kiin.

Biography - Arc II

Gailen is present when Shinae is giving birth to their child. He explains to a nervous slave that it was never his mate's choice to be in the position of protector twin--he views the assignment as like a glorified slave. Even childbirth is unquestioned as a means of a commonborn's survival in the Vel'Sharen political atmosphere.[1]

Upon the midwife's departure, Gailen rushes to Shinae's side, only to find that the creature she birthed was a deformed mutant not unlike a demon. He orders the infant burned and attempts to explain the situation to Shinae, who is deeply disturbed at the events.[2]

The two seperated, and for three years Gailen made efforts to find his mate again. He discovered that she was within his family's fortress, following the raid against Snadhya'rune's nidraa'chal, and tried to make ammends for burning their deformed child. While Shinae was her usual brash and unapproachable self, Gailen used his words to help her remember how they used to be when together, and how even she had moments of happiness. The young Nal'sarkoth invited her to walk through their gardens, discussing how the past several years have forced so much change. Shinae admitted that she herself had changed, but was unsure of how the results would affect her, but Gailen was willing to work with her and seek forgiveness. Most importantly, he wanted his mate to find a reason to be happy again[3].

Notable Quotes
