Yami'ni Vel'Sharen

Yami'ni arrives to lay a trap in Kun'stenaar's home.

Yami'ni is one of Zala'ess Vel'Sharen's many daughters, fathered by Zala'ess' mate Sabrror Vel'Sharen. She is about as tall as Zala'ess, possibly a little taller, with long white hair that she dyes with light blue streaks along the sides and centerline. While she sports shoulder-length bangs, her hair is pulled back mostly in a high pony-tail with some of the front portion hanging along the side of her head in a drape-like fashion. With only three spikes on her crown, she is higher in status than her younger sister, Chrys'tel, but apparently on the same level as her "sister", Vy'chriel. She tends to wear blue and whites with no traces of red. Her dress style is also in keeping with other fashions in Zala'ess' family, as it shows only small amounts of various Asian influences, if any at all.

Yami'ni's personality isn't fully known but is glimpsed at via her short appearance (thus far) in the Moonless Age story arc and the side comic Demon Painter. She seems a rather publicly calm individual who isn't above excitement and joy, but can also be quick to anger and can hold a grudge. In Demon Painter she approaches the main character to ask about his drawing of her, and is enraged to find he has depicted her as a demon. His fall into insanity throughout the story is a direct result of Yami'ni's revenge upon him. Much like any Vel'Sharen, she is not one to be crossed.

Yami'ni arrives as a part of Zala'ess' entourage to the Sarghress stronghold.

While Zala'ess may not be one to express great anger over a slight (especially if she can get the upper hand by staying calm), Yami'ni seems to be more hot headed and emotional still given her actions in Demon Painter. She does however accompany her mother to the Val'Sarghress fortress in order to possibly negotiate the release of her younger sister, Chrys'tel, from captivity. She attempts to imitate her mother by taking shots at Quain'tana's lack of "good parenting" and Mel'arnach's own dubious loyalties, but is told to keep it down by Sabrror, who is most likely her father as he is Zala'ess' mate.

As seen in Demon Painter, Yami'ni is a Velnari. Her other abilities are unknown, much like Zala’ess’ and other Sharen besides Chrys’tel. It could be that she shares the same element of blood with Chrys’tel, however that would just be an assumption based on the fact that they are of the same stock parents-wise.

All else about Yami'ni is unknown, and further appearances may occur as the story flips to Chrys’tel’s search for answers and other issues among the Sharen, specifically Zala’ess’ family. However this could be all we see of the woman, and her appearance in Chapter 8 may have just been a tie-in with Demon Painter.

Cristina Vee voiced Yami'ni in the animated version of Demon Painter.
