Appearance and Personality
Ky'ovarde is a tall female drowussu with a powerful build and a yellow eye. She covers the loss of her right eye with a purple cloth band worn as an eyepatch. She has brown hair, though she dyes the front bangs black. She is rarely seen outside of her Warden's armor. In terms of personality, she is brutal and completely ruthless. She is devoted to the Kyorl'solenurn cause, and as a Warden pursued it with a fanatical zeal. She displayed very few scruples in carrying out her duty, willing to openly wield nether sorcery if it meant more efficiently cutting down her Order's foes. She is not without emotion, however, and does display occasional moments of grim humour.
Many of these darker personality traits stem from the events of the first Kyorl'solenurn schism,[1] during which she lost her right eye, her sight, her Holy Mother, and even her Templar.[2] This trauma greatly embittered and hardened Ky'ovarde, leading to a darker turn to her personality. She would only begin to recover with the ascension of Anahid to power, though this led her to question all she had done as a Warden. While by this point she was more willing to forgive others, she was now unable to forgive herself for the acts she had committed in the name of her clan and her faith.
Biography - Arc I
Hunting the Vloz'ress
Ky'ovarde first appeared after an acquaintance of Holy Mother Shimi'lande was brought before her by mercenaries in the employ of the Vloz'ress clan, having been horrifically transformed into a living doll by Kharla'ggen. Enraged, Shimi'lande ordered the hapless mercenaries removed from her sight and Ky'ovarde summoned before her.[3] Unaware the gruesome scene had been orchestrated by an agent of the Vel'Sharen,[4] Shimi'lande succumbed to the blatant provocation and ordered Ky'ovarde to lead a mission to purge the Vloz'ress summoners operating from outside the protection of their fortress.[5]
Ky'ovarde would soon depart with several fellow members of her Order; Warden Mili'ani, Inquisitor Ae'theriss, Templars Sang'oro and Ron'nae, and Crusader Ano'toti. The group was also accompanied by Inquisitor Desmonde of the Order of the Holy Eye, whose task was to ensure the mission focused solely on eliminating the Vloz'ress and did not target other factions that might also be encountered.[6]
WIP - Deprecated
Ky'ovarde tracked a group of demon-hunting Vloz'ress into the wilds outside of Chel'el'Sussoloth, moving along the trade routes of the Sarghress. She and her squad attacked the Vloz'ress troops from multiple angles, splintering off into a series of parallel fights. Ky'ovarde quickly sealed a nearby gate before squaring off against Sene'kha Vel'Vloz'ress, the summoner leading the Vloz'ress expedition.
While defending herself against Sene'kha's attacks, Ky'ovarde makes use of the demons she sealed to create a blade that feeds off her own body and blood. Sene'kha taunts the Warden as being a heretic for using demonic powers, while Ky'ovarde reasons that if she is using the demons to do the will of the Goddess, then it is acceptable. The two were equally matched, and the fight only came to a halt when a group of Sarghress lead by De'vess Quill'yate Yurun'hiir Sarghress arrived in the cavern to arrest both parties. Sene'kha then over-stretched herself by attempting to open another gate, distracting her long enough for Ky'ovarde to strike.
The Sarghress envoy took custody of the badly injured Sene'kha. Eventually, Sene'kha's fate was left in the hands of the Kyorl wardens, and Ky'ovarde had the pleasure of decapitating and immolating the Vloz'ress summoner herself.
Biography - Arc II
It is Ky'ovarde's responsibility to uncover who is manipulating the clan into doing certain things most of the clan feels uneasy about. Judicator Kousei instructed her, Miner'a, Lysire'indris and Rafal'za to find out who's behind the clan mess by any means necessary. Ky'ovarde and her associates tail Chirinide and confront the seer about what Shimi'lande left as a last message to her, but was met with hostility. Later, Ky'ovarde and her associates receive an order from Kousei to assassinate Judicator Kyuusei, at Chime's request. She throws the light elf's body into the main hall, for everyone to see.
Notable Quotes
"I'm fighting fire with fire. To use it for a holy purpose in the service of the goddess makes it acceptable."[7] - In response to Sene'kha's accusations of hypocrisy for practicing nether summoning.
