Quill'yate Yurun'hiir Sarghress

Quill'yate is the commander of the Highland Raiders legion and the Dev'ess of House Yurun'hiir. She is a close personal friend of Quain'tana, and she is one of the oldest members of the Val'Sarghress clan.
Appearance and Personality
Quill'yate is a capable fighter and an intrepid explorer. She is well-respected by her troops and is an old, trusted friend of Quain'tana herself. She is shown to be kind and understanding, but is strong enough to keep the Highland Raiders in line.
Quill'yate has bobbed black hair with a white streak on the left side of her bangs. Her right eye has been replaced by a non-functioning green gemstone, and her helmet has been modified to lack an eye-hole on the right side. She almost always wears her amber Raider armor
Biography - Arc I
Quill'yate commands the Val'Sarghress clan's Highland Raiders, a legion dedicated to relic hunting and conquest of the Old World. She is also the dev'ess of the Yurun'hiir subhouse, a subhouse closely linked to the overworld. Due to the nature of her position, she spends most of her time away from the Sarghress main forces.
Meeting Ariel
On the day of Ariel's 10th birthday, Quill'yate happens to be visiting the Val'Sarghress fortress. As Ariel watches on, she has an intense sparring match with Koil'dorath Val'Sarghress, which ends in a cheerful stalemate. After the bout, Quill'yate meets Ariel for the first time and speaks with her about the girl's mother, Quain'tana. Sensing the girl's hesitation, she tells Ariel a story about lions on the surface, explaining how the mothers will throw their young off a cliff and accept only the cubs that are strong enough to climb their way back up. Though Ariel does not entirely understand Quill'yate's words, the story sticks with her as a rationale for Quain'tana's apparently harsh parenting.
Fight in Dvergar Caverns
Quill'yate departed for the surface, and she only returned when Quain'tana sent out a call to the clan's dev'ess'. On her to Quain'tana's meeting, she ran into the now slightly older Ariel. She swooped the girl up in her arms and asked her about how things were going. Ariel said that she had just acquired Quain'tana's permission to journey to the surface to rescue her best friend. Quill'yate agreed to allow Ariel and her companions to join the Highland Raiders caravan when they departed.
On the way to Machike'Shikumo, the outpost that would lead to the surface, the caravan was unexpectedly attacked by the local dvergar. Quill'yate rallied her forces and successfully beat back the dvergar threat. When she found out they had assaulted the Sarghress because of Vel'Vloz'ress and Val'Kyorl'solenurn forces in the area, Quill'yate found and arrested all parties involved. She eventually freed the Kyorls and handed Sene'kha Vel'Vloz'ress over to them for prosecution.
Journey to the Old World
Quill'yate knew the importance of Ariel's position as heir, so when they reached the overworld she dispatched a squad of Raiders to trail Ariel's party from a distance. This proved to be a worthwhile concern, and Quill'yate's soldiers brought the young heir back safe and sound. After her mission was complete, Ariel asked Quill'yate if she would consider making Vaelia, an emberi soldier and trusted friend of Ariel's, one of her Highland Raiders. Quill'yate said it would be irregular, but decided to allow Vaelia into her ranks.
Biography - Arc II
Planning to Assault Snadhya'rune's Tower
Quill'yate was recalled to assist Quain'tana with planning the next assault on Snadhya'rune's forces. In their next strategy meeting prior to the first clan leader meeting since the Demon God incident, there were several mixed opinions regarding whether or not to trust Zala'ess Vel'Sharen. When Sil'lice Val'Sharen joined them, Quill'yate asked what the status was of the alliance with Mimaneid.[2]
Quill'yate sparred with Quain'tana the next day, and entertained the onlookers with her use of earth magic. After being defeated by the Ill'haress, she commented on the state of Quain'tana's face, telling her that the healers appeared to have done a poor job. As she left, she told Ariel to keep Quain'tana in a good mood for everyone's sake.[3]
A Cryptic Farewell, And A Warning
The day after their spar, Quill'yate ran into Ariel and Faen outside of the room where she had just met with the Ill'haress. Her sour mood quickly lifted, and she greeted the two warmly. Quill joked with Faen abouthow tall Ariel had grown since she had last seen her, but grew somewhat serious, stating that she hoped Ariel wouldn't grow to exceed Quain'tana in temperament as well. She then noticed Faen holding Octarya, and asked if the baby was theirs. When Ariel explained that the baby was her little sister, Quill'yate sourly noted that Quain'tana's "family plan" had struck again, and that the Ill'haress needed a serious kick in the ass.
Quill wouldn't be the one to do so, however, as she explained that she was leaving Chel that same day. Ariel protested, telling the commander that she had just gotten there, and Ariel had hoped to talk more with her. She gave Ariel a cryptic piece of advice, instead, telling her to stay out of politics, and if she were ever burned by them, she would know where to find Quill'yate's people.[4]
