- Nether summoning
Sene'kha is the Vel'Vloz'ress clan's chief Nether Summoner; in addition to the formidable individual potency required to acquire such status and the commanding position over the clan's arms that it endows, Sene'kha is also a central figure in Vloz'ress politics, being seen as both kingmaker and puppetmistress to Ilharess Kharla'ggen.
The circumstances of Sene'kha's early life, family and career are unknown. The most that can be said is that she was an established member of the Vloz'ress community before their acquisition of the 'Vel' honorific and investiture as one of the nine Great Clans following the Nidraa'chal putsch.
The defining action of Sene'kha, which serves to both indicate her character and cement her high position is the introduction of young Kharla'ggen to the Vloz'ress 'nether cult'. Sene'kha demonstrated great interest in the unsettling and unearthly child from the outset, claiming to have retrieved her from vagrant abandonment in the barren wilderness caverns. Sene'kha pressed for her election to Ilharess following the demonstration of her terrible abilities in destroying a Sharen warband after the first overtures of alliance from the imperial clan were rebuffed by Ven'nedia Vloz'ress; assuming the position of her guardian, standing sentinel (or lurking?) over her shoulder during High Council meetings. It is strongly insinuated that she is the party responsible for Kharla'ggen's unhinged state, having brutalized and warped her into the depraved and demented bogeyman that she has become today.
The Vloz'ress themselves freely admit that Sene'kha is the real leader of the clan and that Kharla'ggen is essentially just a figurehead.
Something of Sene'kha's personality can be inferred from these events. Baliir Vel'Vloz'ress praises her as an inspirational idealist engaged in a benevolent struggle against an oppressive clan system; however, this is difficult to square with images of her actual self, which convey a more sinister atmosphere. Her complexion is defined around sly leers and contemptuous smirks; she displays a propensity for lurking in shadows and demonstrates a callous attitude towards the integrity of drow life (which she views in terms of vessels for demonic possesion). And, of course, her suspected abuse of Kharla'ggen is, by all accounts, 'arch-utilitarian' at best. Whether Sene'kha is truly seized with revolutionary fervour or just cynically wears the mask as a ruse to dupe the dispossessed and disenfranchised of Chel'el'sussuloth into supporting her (Baliir himself growls "the clans took everything from me, so I will take everything from the clans") is an issue currently open to dispute.
Sene'kha personally commanded the Vloz'ress warband assembled to hunt down Discordia, who is the last shards of a great, demonic dragon named Mal'kaisar'as. The dragon was shattered by its ancient enemy, the demonic spider which the Vloz'ress clan nether summoners worship. This led to a collision with Ky'ovarde Val'Kyorl'solenurn and her party of heretic-hunters, the events stemming from this encounter show some serious chinks in Sene'kha's 'armor'.
Despite her position as a fearsome sorceress, summoner and one of the Vel'Vloz'ress clan's strongest warriors she was wounded and defeated after a simple distraction (stabbed in the side by Ky'ovarde following the intervention of the Highland Raiders) and, even though Sene'kha is a cunning manipulator and the prime power of the Vel'Vloz'ress, Kharla'ggen dispatched Kiel'ndia on a private mission to find Discordia without any input from her Protector while the the survivors of her warband continue to pursue Discordia without any apparent concern for the loss of their leader. This directly implies that Sene'kha's puppetmaster control is neither all-encompassing, nor is it absolute.
Sene'kha is currently incapacitated, being held prisoner by the Val'Sahgress Highland Raider escort for Ariel and her companions as she journeys to the surface world.
Kess'sen Vel'Vloz'ress - Mate.
"That is interesting. You are using Nether Summoning to fight! That makes you a traitor, to your own clan and to your religion!"
- Challenging Ky'ovarde Val'Kyorl'solenurn over the supposedly puritan Warden's use of blasphemous demonic magic.
"Perfect! New tools to finish off these Kyorls."
- Reaction to the arrival of the Highland Raiders during her duel with Ky'ovarde.
