This wiki is very much under construction. The original wiki was set to be shut down and the wiki was largely mirrored to a Fandom-based version, though most of the reference images had not yet been copied over. This migration was put on hold when it appeared the original wiki could in fact be retained, however the old wiki was lost in its entirety when the server was among the many taken down by a massive series of cyberattacks on data centers during early February, 2023. It is now being rebuilt with the launch of Hel. Sorry if it's a little messy right now!
With Nine Great Clans, many minor clans, and a population of merchants, craftsmen, farmers, and other commoners, the balance of power in Chel'el'sussoloth is a precarious thing. The drow are, if nothing else, a dynamic people and entire political situations can change in a few cycles' time; even overnight. It would be impossible to track every single individual's loyalty or bias, however, it's simple to follow what one Clan's attitude, as a whole, is towards another.
Clan Relations Table, circa 1099 MA
Each Clan has a different relationship with one another. Alliances are made, wars are fought; yesterday's enemy could be tomorrow's ally. The following Clan Relations Table shows, in color, the current status of the clans. The columns display that Clan's views towards other Clans, while the rows indicate how that Clan is perceived.
A green box indicates friendly status. Exchanges are smooth and ambassadors may visit freely without invitation. Alliances are possible, and aggression between the Clans' individual members is suppressed.
A yellow box indicates neutral status. Relations are uneasy and invitations are required for members of the opposing Clan to enter the fortress walls. Diplomacy is handled case by case, and a Clan's army is not welcome on another Clan's turf.
A red box indicates hostile status. Diplomacy is, at best, an exchange of insults and anything is permitted; war can break out at any time. Friendly relations between individual members from opposed Clans is not recommended.
Due to the inevitable war that has sprung up between the Sharen and the Sarghress, clan relations have dramatically changed. The Sullisine'rune and Sarghress are allied against the Sharen, Beldrobbaen and Black Sun coalition. The Kyorl'solenurn are neutral to the district war, but consider all clans to be heretics. The Vloz'ress relations do not change except for their relations with the Vel'Sharen turning sour due to Kiel'ndia's leadership. Beginning in Chapter 34, Zala'ess had gone to Nuqrah'shareh to gain the assistance of the Val'Illhardro to aid the Sharen in the war. Only the Nal'sarkoth and Jaal'darya remain neutral.
Through Zala'ess Vel'Sharen's political maneuvers and military aid, the Val'Illhar'dro and the nation of Nuqrah'shareh joined the fight on the side of the Vel'Sharen. They claim grievances against the Sarghress and Sullisin'rune for the sabotaging of their lands and colony. The Sharen gain an ally only to lose another, for with Kiel's assassination of the false Empress came the Beldrobbaen withdrawal from the frontlines. Effectively ending their wartime alliance with the Vels.
