- This wiki is very much under construction. The original wiki was set to be shut down and the wiki was largely mirrored to a Fandom-based version, though most of the reference images had not yet been copied over. This migration was put on hold when it appeared the original wiki could in fact be retained, however the old wiki was lost in its entirety when the server was among the many taken down by a massive series of cyberattacks on data centers during early February, 2023. It is now being rebuilt with the launch of Hel. Sorry if it's a little messy right now!

Mek'kel is Sarghress soldier and former Tei'kaliath serving in Machike, as well as Shaira'ja's mate. He previously served in Jak'iaah's Home Guard Brawlers squad.

Appearance and Personality

Mek'kel is notably meek and timid when not in combat. He is polite, shy, and sometimes speaks with a stutter. However, when provoked his mind snaps into a berserker frenzy in which he violently attacks anything near him with his cleaver. When he comes down from this uncontrollable mental state, he does not remember anything that he has done.

Mek'kel is short with pink eyes and orange-tipped hair. He is from the same homeland as the Tei'kaliath, giving him the same skin tone as most members of that clan. He bears a small cleaver and a buckler in battle.

Biography - Arc II

District War - Darya Lake

The Brawler Squad works together to defeat one of the Black Sun mercenaries.

Mek'kel, despite his timid nature, ended up in the Brawlers squad alongside Zaor, Sen'gil and their leader, Jak'iaah. During the battle for the districts of Darya Lake, they were tasked with breaching a Vel'Sharen tower to carve a path for the rest of the Val'Sarghress and Val'Sullisin'rune troops.

Soon after entering the building, Mek'kel spotted a slave that was injured and bound high in a doorway. He and Zair moved to help it down, but they were stopped in time by Jak'iaah, who had detected the Dvergar powder lining the floor. Mek'kel suggested that they return to base for reinforcements, but Jak'iaah disagreed, instead instructing the squad to use the earth foci in their gauntlets to help her form a spike barrage against a hiding Black Sun, K'sava. The raging warrior quickly retaliated with a crushing axe-swing into Mek'kel's shoulder. He was grounded by the blow, but still sunk his cleaver into K'sava's foot.[1]

Mek'kel suffered heavy wounds to his shoulder during the District War.

Mek'kel received medical attention from Faen and Shala once the tower was taken. His arm was badly injured, but he remained conscious despite the pain.[2]

Puppeteer Incident

Mek'kel next appears during the closing hours of the District War, recuperating from his energy at a local bar alongside his squad. As the patrons began to swap war stories, Mek'kel convinced his generally taciturn squad leader to share a story of her own experiences in Koil'dorath's legion.[3]

Sarghress Coup

Not long after the incident, Mek'kel was present at the Sarghress training grounds as Ariel waited to spar with Quain'tana. As Riviel brazenly walked up to Ariel and challenged her to a sparring match, Shaira'ja pondered aloud if she should join in on the sparring. Mek'kel then offered to practice with her, but suggested a different location as he was ill at ease in the open arena.[4]

Not long thereafter, as Quain'tana finally snapped at attempts to restrain her, Mek'kel was sent with Sharai'ja by Sang to escort Ariel to the House Niz'zre barracks. Sharai'ja's energetic and somewhat unprofessional attitude embarrassed Mek'kel, a fact the cheerful young Sarghress was gleefully aware of.[5] Upon reaching the barracks, he was dismissed and left alongside Sharai'ja.

Biography - Arc III

Hermionne Invasion of Machike

Mek'kel and the other mana specialists use earth sorcery to separate the hermionne troops.

Mek'kel is among the Sarghress defenders holding off the Hermionne siege on Machike'Shikumo.[6] He uses earth affinity to build a wall between the encroaching hordes and the colony walls.

Surprise Attack By The Nidraa'chal

Later, after the Machike residents gathered their wounded to recover from their victory against the Hermionnes, Snadhya'rune sent an envoy in the form of Kyo'nne Val'Illhar'dro, who promised assistance for the colony in return for Ariel accompanying her to Felde. When Ariel refused and ordered Kyo'nne to return to her mistress, the ship made as if to leave, but returned shortly and began bombarding the colony with its mana cannons. Mek'kel participated in a counter-attack that was prepared in the event the airship returned. He assisted with setting wire traps, allowing cannon teams to open fire on the trapped airship.[7]

When the airship returned a second time, this time with a bombardment of gigantic rocks in tow, Mek'kel joined Ariel yet again in a desperate attempt to draw the airship away from the colony, joining a group of approximately thirty able bodies who had survived the latest barrage on Machike.

Escape to Sha'shi

Mek'kel and the other defenders continued to play cat-and-mouse with Snadhya'rune's airship, leaving a trail of stuffed dummies and stone counterfeits to draw the fire of the mana cannons. Eventually, the defenders located Sha'shi, a research outpost located in the heart of the underworld.

A Desperate Gamble

After forging a temporary alliance with the engineers of Sha'shi, the Machike defenders decided to make an attempt to board and capture the Nidraa'chal airship when it landed at the outpost to take on supplies. Mek'kel and Shair'ja did not make it on to the ship initially, as the airship's crew was warned of the Sarghress presence after Da'xia spotted Ariel on the ground.[8] After the boarding party was pinned down by Bae'rali Val'Sullisin'rune, they were then released by Faen Val'Sullisin'rune, who countered the powerful empath. Mek'kel and the remaining defenders were then able to board the ship to continue the take-over attempt.
